Casting Audition

Finding a casting audition for any role is a important step toward advancing your acting career forward, and doing a great job at a casting audition gets you on step closer toward actually working as an actor. Although trying out may seem frustrating or scary, loosen up. Everytime you see  a movie, a tv show, a commercial, or a stage play, remember that everyone more than had to go through a casting audition. If those people can do it, surely, you also can do it.

Distinguish differences between the ways of auditioning for movies and auditioning for theatrical plays. Movies tend to drift more towards intimate acting, close ups, headshots, and more practical gestures. Movie auditions tend to center on interactions and scenes, instead of long soliloquies. For theatrical plays, the auditions commonly start out with soliloquies, and if the theatre director thinks that you might fit in their production they might have you do scenes with the other individuals for the callback process. So know what you are training for, if you don't have a great stage presence or can't project, theatrical productions might not be for you.
